Was cleaning out before grilling yesterday, and noticed the bottom ring is cracked in one spot. Also the top ring is hellishly warped, i haven't done many high temp cooks, getting it up to 800 for pizza once or twice, but mostly do either low and slow smoking, or 450-500°F cooks for steaks and things.

Should I be worried?

If you’re the original owner, contact KJ and they will replace. Ceramics have a lifetime warranty

It’ll eventually become a problem and you’ll need a new ring

I have replaced mine twice, the one in the grill now has the same crack but I still use it and I have a replacement ready for when it breaks completely.

Mine cracked same. Waranty filed. Received the replacement. Put the box in the garage until it utterly fails. It’s been cracked at least 2 years and hasn’t gotten worse. When the whole base fails, I’ll have the replacement on hand.

I had the same problem. I contacted KJ and they sent me a new ring, no questions asked. I still haven’t replaced the cracked one and it’s been going strong for 5 years now with no issues. Have the new one stored in the garage if ever needed.

Once you receive your warranty replacement, you can buy some Rutgers high ceramic concrete and fill in the crack. Be sure to use a drill to drill out the end of the crack before filling it in. Then you’ll have a backup

  7. There’s a crack in my base, but everything still works
