I swear I accidentally make crack.

I saw someone post the same recipe recently and I have been craving them since, finally made them yesterday and OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUSNESS!! SOOOOO SOFT!!! My partner said it felt like he wasn't eating but breathing air due to how pillow-y they turned out.

DEFINITELY give this recipe and try https://www.africanbites.com/new-orleans-beignet/#recipe

The only things I did differently is that I only used 400g flour and I didn't melt the butter. I kneaded the butter into the dough after a dough ball formed from the initial wet ingredients.

those beignets sound like a cloud in edible form, nice touch with the butter technique, gotta try that out, thanks for sharing the link 🥐

Beignet calories don’t count! Good job!

Why did you do the butter differently from the recipe? What does that do? I am definitely going to try to make these!

You have to eat way more because of the air. This 51% air rounds off to 100%, and air has zero calories. (Based on a logic behind a convo with someone on a carb-free diet, who said she could eat as many tic-tacs as she wanted because the label said zero carbs per serving; I said no, the first ingredient is sugar, so that case of candy has carbs and calories. Consensus sided with her, bc food label truth, so it must be right.)
