Onion and cheese pie that i often make. Goes great with most things! Tonight im having it with oven potatoes and roast meat.

Super simple pie crust:
300ml flour
125 grams butter
2 tablespoons water

I use a food processor to blend the ingredients but by hand is fine too. I prebake the crust alone for 10min before adding fillings.

Filling:
3 onions caramelised
1 boullion cube

200ml creme fraiche
200ml cream (i used 13%)
75ml flour (should be pancake batter thickness when mixed in)
MIX
A chunk of shredded flavourful cheese (i used roughly 250ml, of a local cheese that is similar to mature cheddar)

I caramelised the onions with some bouillon. Add that to the bottom of the crust. Then I mix the creme fraiche, cream and flour together to a pancake batter consistency. Add shredded cheese and in the oven it goes! 175°C fan

I baked this one for 40min

It can be a bit runny when it comes out of the oven. So it's best to let it cool to room temperature as to let it settle.

  1. Oh dear. The formatting became a bit off when posted. Sorry for the slight difficulty to read!

Ooh I will have to make this at one point. What is the fat percent of the creme fraiche? Our local (hungarian) type of sour creme (that is apparently very similar to this) is usually 20%, is that okay for it?
