BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – The world food fair came back this Saturday, an annual event put on by the St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, welcoming the community to try a variety of cultural dishes.
WVVA reporters Megan Bailey and Christian Rapoza did a taste test of different countries’ cuisines, giving their thoughts on this annual event.
The event saw a large crowd of visitors perusing foods ranging from Georgian to Italian, and even some classic American fare as well.
The event brings both the St. Mary’s congregation and the greater Bluefield community together for fellowship and the appreciation of cultures.
The priest of St. Mary’s Priest, Father Michael Foster, told WVVA this year’s turnout has been exceptional.
“It’s been a wonderful day today. We’ve had such a loving experience with the community coming out and supporting us. It’s always such a good showing but especially today I think it’s been very, very grace-filled,” said Foster.
The St. Mary’s Parish Council President, Randy Bailey, added that these foods are a representation of legacy.
“A lot of these things happen through family members because of the heritage of their families and their grandparents. A lot of the recipes that are out here today are things that have been in families for generations,” said Bailey.
You can check out the food fair when it comes back around next year. To find out when, check out the St. Mary’s Facebook page.
