Hyundai Department Store announced on the 22nd that Nam Goong-hyun, the H&B team’s liquor general buyer, received the 820-year-old French wine knighthood “Jurrad de Saint-Temillion” at the French winery “Palais Cardinal” in Bordeaux, France.

The Jurad knighthood in the Saint-Temillion region of France is considered one of France’s top three wine knighthoods, along with Chubali in the Burgundy region and Comandrie in the Medoc region. About 3,000 people in the world have been knighted by the Jurad, and they also serve as ambassadors for wine in the Saint-Temillion region.

The wine knighthood has a symbolic significance of being recognized for professionalism, and the person who is knighted takes on the role of opinion leader in the wine industry.

Namgoong-hyun Buyer was recognized for his contribution to revitalizing the French wine market by introducing more than 500 different French wines to Korea. From 2022 to last month, it sold 600,000 bottles of French wine.

Hyundai Department Store will sell up to 50% off the initial sale price of 20 French wine gift sets selected by Nam Goong-hyun Buyer to commemorate the knighthood by the 5th of next month.

Buyer Nam Goong-hyun said, “The efforts so far to introduce customers to various French wines ranging from premium to cost-effectiveness have led to meaningful results. In the future, we plan to provide customers with a special gastronomic experience by curating various wines from around the world, including French Bordeaux wine.”
