Excited for the journey. Been looking forward to this a long time. Already seen so many posts and comments to help with starting out. So thank y’all.
So far the biggest challenge is learning to steam milk. No matter how many videos I’ve seen and comments I’ve ready I can’t get close. But also realizing that it’ll take time.

Welcome aboard! Let the journey begin.
(Hope you’re well funded.)
Heard this was a solid product. Good luck on the journey great start
Lance Hedrick’s halfway and a quarter tip/tutorial really helped me
I had the same issue with Milk when I got started. Just steam milk out of repetition, and pay attention to how the milk reacts to the steam. Make sure the wand is center and either off to the left or right depending on which way you tip it.
I heard someone describe the sound that it should be making as “lightly tearing paper”. Your preference for foam texture will define how much air needs to be injected. Good Luck!
Steaming milk is indeed a skill that improves with practice. Remember to aim for creating a whirlpool in the milk to introduce air evenly, which helps achieve that silky texture ideal for latte art. It’s all about patience and persistence, so keep at it, and you’ll see improvement over time.
Hey OP, congrats on the setup! I just got the niche too. I’m facing more retention than what I’ve seen here or on videos and I have to go beyond the espresso range to pull something decent otherwise it chokes the machine (I did calibrate it). Do you face the same “issues”?
What espresso machine is that?
You’ve got to develop your own technique. YouTube videos are just a guideline. To do that, try to be as consistent as possible — for example, how much air you inject and the pitcher angle. It’s a journey of trial and error. If you steam the milk randomly, you won’t be able to tell where you’re messing up or how to fix it.
