The fluffiest Vegan cinnamon rolls. ꩜🤎 Took me forever to perfect this recipe — it’s adapted from my vegan milk bread recipe so it utilizes a tangzhong for a super soft and bouncy texture.

Cinnamon rolls have become a tradition for me on Christmas morning. You can make them all in one day, or you can use the overnight method: Make the dough and shape the rolls on Christmas Eve, then let them chill in the fridge overnight. Set them out on the counter to finish proofing the next morning, then bake as usual.

Find the recipe on my blog, linked in my bio, or just google “Sarah’s vegan kitchen cinnamon rolls.” The post is full of details, photos of each step, and troubleshooting, so if this is your first time making cinnamon rolls from scratch you can bake with confidence. 🥰

I’m usually more of a salty treats girl but I do have a weakness for cinnamon rolls that makes it hard not to eat half the pan in one sitting and I swear by my recipe the key is to use a Tong Jong which is flour and water mixed together and cooked to a paste consistency this is used in things like Japanese milk bread for super soft and fluffy texture proof your yeast in milk then combine bread flour sugar salt aquafaba or extra milk plus soften butter to form a soft dough KN the dough till it’s elastic adding an extra flour as needed then let the dough rise in an oiled container until doubled in size roll out your dough to a large rectangle spread it with some softened butter and then sprinkle with a brown sugar cinnamon mixture usually I roll this into a log and then cut the cinnamon rolls using floss but I wanted to see if using a pizza cutter and rolling them individually would give me tighter rolls which it did but it was also Messier so I’ll stick to my usual method from now on you can let these rise and bake them on the same day or if you want to enjoy them hot and fresh the next morning pop them in the fridge overnight then set them out on the counter to finish Rising the next day and then bake as usual in my opinion cinnamon rolls aren’t completely without a hefty dose of cream cheese frosting spread that on once they’ve had a moment to cool and then dig in and I think it’s just a fact that the very center is the best part so let me know if you also like to eat it first or if you save it for last

  1. These look phenomenal and they are on my to do list for Christmas and I must do the tangzhong. I just started making and incorporating that when making dinner rolls and it never occurred to me to do it for my cinnamon rolls. Thank you! 🤗

  2. Something I do with cinnamon rolls is I ALWAYS add a few dashes of nutmeg to the cinnamon mixture. It really elevates it in my opinion.

  3. I definitely save the center for last! Yum! & I'm going to try these with orange zest for Christmas. 💜💜

Happy Holidays and Matt and Sarah and have a fantastic new year and family.

  5. I always save the center for last! Cinnamon rolls must be eaten from the outside in. I have family members who just bite into them and eat them straight across. It baffles me!

  6. I shared this video with my hubby. He's the baker in the family 😊🎉❤ Thanks for the yummy recipe, Sarah. Happy Holidays to you and Eric!

  7. One of the secrets is instant clearjel. Mix clearjel, softened butter, and cinnamon and spread that. This will ensure that you will have a gooey cinnamon filling which doesn't melt into the dough, which will enhance the perception of cinnamon flavor.

  8. Glad you've asked ^^ I usually save the center part for last. I'm a big fan of cinnamon roll and also being dominated by women

  9. Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting are B-list rolls. The best are baked in their glaze and form a candied shell underneath.
