I have a few stray cans of COTS in oil to use up. Strained the oil for my kitty and made a plate with kohlrabi, cornichons, spicy pickled cherry tomatoes, kraut, some Braunschweiger, rye bread and two types of mustard (whole grain and horseradish). The plate is shaped like a kitty head but it's so full you can't see 😭 I'm gonna have this again for lunch tomorrow with my polar brislings.

I love the Braunschweiger idea along with sadines. My coworkers won’t bother me all afternoon. I’d chase it with some Limberger.

In all seriouness, you hit all the major side groups.

I’ve never considered pairing kraut and sardines and now I need to try that asap. What does Braunschweiger taste like?

Great idea! You gave me the idea to pickle the cherry tomatoes still growing in my garden

    but u didn’t pay the cat tax 🤨 !?!

  9. Braunschweiger is an underrated gem. I don’t indulge too often because while I love it, my gout doesn’t.

I know rye & mustard are the standard, but with red onion and Miracle Whip on a croissant makes my little trash panda heart sing.

My childhood on a plate. My dad would also add a couple of pickled eggs.

  11. Love the braunshweiger and rye. I never thought of pairing COTS like this. Great idea.

Ooh! What are the details on the pickled cherry tomatoes? I’m a pickling novice and would love to know your ways.
