This thing had a death grip on the plant. I was afraid I was going to rip it in half. Is there an easier way to pluck them off?

I’m kind of a wuss, so I just clip off the end of the branch it’s on (usually they’ve already eaten all the leaves, so 🤷♀️)

Scissors 😅

BT but seeing the turning leaves in the background I think it’s late in the game

If you’re not down for killing them, snip the branch or pull the tomato off that it is on and then fling it as many miles away as you can.
Either that or invite some parasitic wasps over. They will handle it with style.

Ok – looks like the fall leaves I’m looking at near Toronto. Fall is here

I out on my thick garden gloves and just grab that bastard and pull him off. Ignore his crazy defenses of flinging out his fuzzy horn thing…..and hissing. Seriously….the hissing.
I then set him on top of my fence and the birds make quick work of him.
They are usually watching – but since I have a feral cat that lives in my garden they tend to keep their distance from the tomato plants.

I built a small enclosure for my 4 to pupate. Built from an old cat liter bucket, garden net, and hot glue. Now I spray the soil each day and wait to see if they emerge.
i just leave em. have 2500 plants so its cool. then later i see them with wasp eggs on em

Bitches are tenacious. I just clip off the leaves just below them. I don’t like arguing with a caterpillar.

I give mine to my local lizard colony.

If it isn’t dead, it will find its way back. They’re very fast crawlers.

If you don’t want to handle him yourself, put him on the middle of a concrete pad like a driveway or uncovered patio. Walk away for 1 minute to let the birds do their work in peace.

I yank them off and put them on my bird feeder.

I pull them off while wearing leather gloves then cut them in half with my anvil pruners. Very satisfying when I see how much damage they do to my plant. Many times my parasitoid wasp Air Force takes them out:
I’d say a 1/0 or 2/0 worm hook under a bobber. Your tomatoes might be ruined but you’ll have fresh fish

I grab them bare, usually. Unless I am lucky enough to be wearing gloves.
Be warned: they emit scary sounds, thrash, and pulsate.
I like to watch the birds eat them.

Pick ot off, put it in a breathable jar, go fishing. 😅
Juicy_Vape
i throw them on the roof for the birds

Hey just a friendly lil horror story. One time I tried to pull off a big hornworm with a death grip and it smooshed and the bug juice squirted into my EYE. 😩 gonna have to recommend clipping off the whole branch.

Now get a black light and find the caterpillars that are better at hiding.

I am a wuss and could bring myself to kill them.
