I posted a while back asking what the consensus was on the Chefs Temp S1 and Breezo fan and didn’t get a lot of feedback. So, here’s my experience. First cook using the devices (Boston Butt), I experienced a lot of disconnection errors with the Breezo fan to the S1 thermometer. Although it didn’t actually disconnect (maintained temp fine) it did spam my mobile device/app with notifications. After a couple rounds of troubleshooting with support, CT wound up sending me a replacement Breezo. Shipping was quick and no questions asked after initial troubleshooting. Overall very happy with their product and customer support! Second cook after receiving the replacement fan went off without a hitch. I cooked a 13lb brisket overnight (and actually slept!) on my KJC2 for the first time ever. The device maintained temperature in my grill as close to perfect as possible with charcoal without any hiccups or needed intervention on my behalf.

The jury is still out on the longevity of the product, as it does feel somewhat cheaply constructed. But given the lower price as compared to other similar devices, perhaps that’s to be expected.

Pros – app is very user friendly, setup was easy, customer support was responsive and attentive, devices worked as advertised after some initial Bluetooth connectivity issues.

Cons – don’t like having to run a power cord to the grill to run the fan, but the device can be run with a wireless power bank – I haven’t tried this.

Conclusion – 9/10 experience. Would recommend the S1/Breezo to anyone looking to gain some “set it and forget it” functionality from their Kamado Joe.
