I’ve been getting into cake decorating as a hobby and asked my friends if I could make a cake for their baby shower. I need to work on getting a more smooth finish on my buttercream (but this is a big improvement from my trial cake a few weeks ago). I’m really pleased with how it came out! Chocolate cake, Oreo buttercream filling, and covered in espresso buttercream.

    What is your technique for the buttercream? I am finding that microwaving about 1/3 to a half of it after I’ve prepared it for a few bursts and getting it warm, and then remixing that with the other half that is room temp, works well to get it spreadable/smooth, but it’s kind of tough to do it exactly right. Do you have any tips? I think this looks really good.
