TULSA, OKLA. (KTUL) — With more than a million people expected at this year’s Tulsa State Fair, the Tulsa Health Department (THD) is working behind the scenes to keep food safe and fairgoers healthy.
Over the fair’s 11-day run, THD inspectors will spend more than 520 hours on site, conducting an estimated 600 food safety checks across more than 200 booths.
Their work includes routine inspections, hands-on guidance for vendors, and monitoring of food handling and hygiene practices.
Every vendor that meets safety standards receives a THD sticker, letting visitors know their favorite food stand has been approved.
The fair effort is part of THD’s year-round mission to protect public health.
Over the last two years, inspectors have carried out more than 16,500 inspections at Tulsa County’s 4,800 retail food establishments.
