Today we got a delivery of lobsters and this egg laden lady was in with the bunch. After a bit of concern from the prep guy (19), and our young line cook (17m), and a quick talk with our sous, she's heading back to the ocean tonight to live another day. Maybe there is hope for the next generation of chefs. 🥹

I’m from Maine and the lobstermen who might have caught her could have gotten in a lot of trouble if she was found aboard a lobster boat!!! Good on yall for releasing her back into the ocean !!
It would be crazy if she clutched on the boat or in the tank.

Well done, I’m from a lobstering community originally and it boils my blood to see an egger brought ashore. That should never ever happen, and returning her to the sea is absolutely the right call.
I cooked with a guy a million years ago who bounced from kitchen to kitchen, a real piece of work. One day to torment me, he hacked the tails off of a few lobsters and put the bodies into a Cambro, stuck the lid on and shook them to death right in front of me, while laughing. I went straight to Chef’s office and he was off the line and out the door in 20 minutes.
It’s really nice to see a different way that story goes.

I ate at a restaurant down in Narragansett RI a few years back. Got served a female lobster. Not only was it over cooked, it was ridiculous expensive. I have never gone back there. Was very disappointed it was a female lobster too.

I ran a lobster pound a couple years back and found a HEAVILY pregnant lobster. I immediately brought her back to the ocean, walked out as far as I could, and threw her back in. Was back in time for open 😂
I also called the seller and told him one of his guys needed to check his lobsters closer. He was horrified and followed up himself.

I worked at a grocery store in the seafood department on the east coast and got an egger on Xmas eve. Called the corporate office and they had someone there within an hour to pick up that lobster. Glad your team did the right thing!

UPDATE: Larry has been notched! I was cut early tonight so I wasn’t there to see her off but she should be on her way back to the ocean momentarily.
