KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza is lining up three new businesses, a promising sign for the historic shopping district that has seen several storefronts go dark this year.
Coming soon are Perch, a high-end women’s boutique opening fall 2025; J.H. & Sons, a menswear and tailoring shop planning a spring 2026 debut; and Vertice Italian, a fine-dining restaurant expected to open in 2026.
The arrival of Vertice Italian is especially welcome for those who have missed upscale Italian dining since Brio Italian Grille closed in January.
Caroline Hogan, the Country Club Plaza’s PR and Social Media Manager, said these openings reflect a deliberate effort to return to the Plaza’s roots.
“It’s incredibly important. It was one of the top things that when Gillon Property (Group) bought the Country Club Plaza, they are focused on bringing that local food and dining and retail back,” Hogan said. “That’s because we want to make the Country Club Plaza a destination.
“You can find so many stores anywhere across the city, but these three that we’re bringing in are so local and wonderful that it gives people a reason to come down to the Plaza.”

Deserae Minor, owner of KC Style Haus, a shop featuring more than 60 local makers, said she’s encouraged by the direction.
“I see fantastic, great things getting ready to happen, and it’s a slow process. It’s going to be a slow process, but I think that’s a good thing that they’re taking, taking their time to find the right people,” Minor said. “We hear all the time from our customers that they love the fact that we are local, love the fact that we have all these local businesses in here, and that they also want to see that on the Plaza even more.”
The timeline aims to capture the excitement leading into the FIFA World Cup, with Perch set to open in the coming months and J.H. & Sons planning for spring 2026.
