Why is it mainly coming out one side? [breville bambino]
Still trying to dial in my beans, 3 tries this morning. 16 grams, grinded and little more coarse. I also noticed some grinds stuck to the head gasket after and not sure if that’s normal, I have no idea what’s causing this uneven flow.

Get a bottomless porta filter, thank me later

Does this portafilter have a plastic insert below the basket? If you look in the spouts from the bottom do you see a plastic piece?
If yes, it could be that this insert is not sitting properly. You can fix that by removing the basket and pushing the insert down.

Mine does this constantly, I just ignore it.

That happens with me with dark roasts / really fine grinds

Removing the plastic part helped a bit, but get this type of portafilter, much better.
How coffee flows from the spouts doesn’t mean anything.

I think Lance did a video on this — apparently doesn’t matter

The uneven spouting is absolutely normal with the Bambino/Plus portafilters. In fact, when there was discussion about it here last year, it looked like more people got greater flow from the left-side spout (as you face the machine) than from the right–as with yours. Kinda like how the human body isn’t entirely symmetrical left side to right? 😉
I’ve always assumed that it has to do with the plastic insert in the portafilter, which has some channels in it to help prevent the spurting out of the espresso stream. But some people have noted that they get uneven spout distribution even if the insert is removed, so who knows? In the end, it doesn’t affect anything–unless you were going to split your shot, but you still can do that after-the-fact, which some feel is the better way.
Also, some post-shot grounds on the grouphead is entirely normal as well–you’ve just shot near-boiling, pressured water at your ground, tamped coffee, and so some internal splashing is to be expected. I will end my espresso session by pulling a blank, portafilter-less shot, which clears any errant grounds and oils away.

No one is asking this?????
How is coffee taste? If it’s fine. Just ignore it, if it’s leveled and your coffee preb was decent.

Make sure grinds are level BEFORE you tamp too!
