M’Tucci’s Italian is helping students with tutoring, mentoring and more to get them on a good path in their lives.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Local Italian restaurant M’tucci’s is giving back to the community with some initiatives to get people out of the fridge and into the frying pan, if you will.

For several years now, M’tucci’s has had their chefs going out to high schools, like Rio Rancho High School, and they’ll be teaching a culinary class Friday. Then, on Tuesday, they’ll be going to Taylor Middle School to talk to kids about what it’s like to work in the culinary industry.

Chefs also teach senior citizens how to make healthy, affordable meals. They’ve even offered a tutoring program for their restaurant employees’ kids who may need help.

“We actually have a group of tutors that we’ve hired and they teach both in the restaurants and in the employees’ homes, whatever the kids prefer. But usually, you know, food is on the house in the restaurants and we call this program M’tutoring,” said Howie Kaibel, with M’tucci’s.

M’tucci’s also has a culinary program to let people learn from top-notch chefs. They have also partnered with Locker #505 on initiatives.
