That’s Amore! Is there anything better than a juicy plate of pasta when you’re ravenous?

Lovers of Italian cuisine are in for a real treat in 2025, as one of the best-loved Italian restaurants will open its doors here, and the countdown is officially on.

Irish diners will finally get to say ciao to Gloria Osteria, which forms part of the international Big Mamma group, this November when it opens its doors in the heart of the Capital.

Gloria Osteria Dublin is the third restaurant to open after Milan and Barcelona.

For the uninitiated, the restaurant group, which also includes pizzerias, food courts, and experiences based around authentic Italian cuisine with a twist, is the brainchild of Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux and there are big plans in store for the Dublin restaurant.

It will embody the glamour of a traditional Italian osteria (a place to enjoy food and wine) from the 1970s.

The owners have promised an ‘opulent space’ that will include a 180-seat osteria with a ‘seductively designed’ private dining room.

The star attraction is, of course, the menu that will feature traditional Italian dishes which have been sourced from 170 Italian artisans, such as Puglian burrata and 22-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano.

The space on 41 Westmoreland Street is also shaping up to be as impressive as the menu. It has been carefully restored by Big Mamma’s in-house design team, Studio Kiki, with timber joinery handcrafted in Arezzo and scarlet Jacopo Foggini chandeliers dotted throughout the renovated 19th-century bank.

Other design highlights include a sweeping 10-metre-long Rosso Levanto marble bar, which will sit underneath 700 vintage bottles. As for the main dining room, burgundy is the star of the show, and the space is filled with decorations handpicked from Italian markets.

Commenting on the move to Ireland, Co-Managing Director Enrico Pireddu said: ‘Dublin is a city I love as it reminds of Italians of home, it’s strong sense of community and vibrant restaurant culture, which with the beautiful Gloria Osteria we hope to be a small part of.

‘After throwing open the doors to Gloria in Milan in 2023, we knew we had something special: an osteria paying tribute to the iconic Italian glamour of the ’70s where exceptional produce and a vibrant, groovy ambience come together to create a truly memorable experience.

‘We are now hugely excited to be bringing this charming yet elegant restaurant, with a menu of great Italian classics and creative twists, to a major second city. ‘

Gloria Osteria Dublin will open on 41 Westmoreland Street in 2025. Stay tuned for further updates.
