Birmingham’s culinary scene is set to sizzle as Southern Living’s Food & Fire event returns for its third year at Sloss Furnaces this Saturday. as part of the Southbound Food Festival. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m., featuring 30 open-fire chefs and pitmasters from across the South. Organizers anticipate a crowd of more than 1,600 guests eager to experience the flavors, live music, and Southern tailgate culture.
David Bancroft of Acre and Bow and Arrow BBQ said, “When you’re cooking with this caliber of chefs and talent, you always want to be the best bite in town.”
Bancroft added, “Birmingham’s such an amazing food scene, so anytime a traveling chef can come into the iron city and cook with some of the greatest in the country, it’s always a blast. It’s fun; it’s challenging; you have to step up your game.”
The event will feature fresh oysters over open fire, tailgate-style bites, live music on the Coca-Cola Music Stage, and SEC football on the big screen, finishing in a white sauce challenge at Southern Living’s Tailgate Stage.
Bancroft described the atmosphere as “eat all of these bites and food; you got smoke and grills, fresh cracked beers; this is the perfect environment.”
Named one of the top 10 new festivals in the country after its first year, Food & Fire promises a memorable experience for all attendees.
