Had the privilege of attending the annual fundraising gala held by the nonprofit that houses the organizations and restaurants at Mercado la Paloma, home to Holbox, Chichen Itza, Komal, Oaxacali, and others. The Mercado closes early, and the restaurants prepare special menu for guests, effectively creating a tasting menu. I got pics of the appetizers and mains, and missed the desserts, as I had to leave before they were served.
Esperanza is a fantastic organization that not only allows for first generation business owners have a chance to thrive, but also provide critical support to the surrounding community.
Even the very existence of the Mercado is the result of community organizing
