My good friend decided to open this tonight. A long lost gift from his old employer, basement kept by his folks. Signatures on the front are from his crew from the line cooking days. We’re cooking dinner now, sharing this after a nice long bike ride. Life isn’t always as good as this, but sure does make it special when it is.

Tasting notes: dried cherry or currant, old oak and or tobacco. Mouth coat is dry and crisp leathery tartness.

I had that bottle a few years ago and it was wonderful and a completely different species from modern Caymus. Tons of cherry and licorice, but also a slight soy sauce and mushroom. It was definitely the tail end of what I would consider widely appreciable, so another 3-4 years might be past the line.

Now that’s a Caymus worth drinking!

Hey! Caymus from when it was amazing instead of heavily processed! Bravo!

This was one of the wines that I drank when I first got into wine. It was amazing. So was the regular bottling (then about $15).

Sad how far it has fallen (in quality, not price.)

Fantastic, there’s nothing better than an old bottle. Cheers!

Attended a Caymus dinner a few years back and had no idea how wonderful the experience was until the first and last glass 🍷. Incredible. Cheers

Oh! Dope. Back when it didn’t suck and Chuck hadn’t taken a dump on his namesake.
