Is this an animal bite or maybe damage from something else? Only recently started seeing these triangular marks on a few. We've been lucky and had plenty of tomatoes this season but I hate to throw any away, especially as our season is coming to an end (SE Wisconsin). Is it safe to cut away and eat the rest?

Maybe birds.
I’m just south of you in NE Illinois and I swear I’ve seen similar damage on some of mine. I figured it was bird pecks. Cut it out and you can eat it. Problem is you can’t let them sit around to ripen once you see that damage.
Looks like rodents to me. They do the same to my figs. The bottom hole looks like 2 incisors biting top to bottom.
I’ve had squirrels doing my tomatoes that way this summer
