Lisbon, Feb. 13, 2025 (lusa) – Portuguese wine exports grew by 4.46% in 2024, to €965.8 million, despite the decrease in the average price per litre, which fell by 3.88% to €2.78, ViniPortugal announced on Thursday.
In terms of volume, exports reached 347.5 million litres, which translates into an increase of 8.7% compared to 2023.
Excluding Port wine, exports reached €661.6 million, an increase of 6.6% on 2023, and in terms of volume reached 292.5 million litres, an increase of around 11%.
In terms of markets, France remained the main destination for Portuguese wines, registering €103.4 million in imports, while the United States strengthened its position as the second largest market, with growth of 2%, reaching €102.1 million.
Another notable market was Brazil, which grew by 7.5% to €85.8 million in imports, overtaking the United Kingdom.
“The positive evolution of exports in 2024, especially in strategic markets such as Brazil, Canada and the USA, demonstrates the resilience and competitiveness of Portuguese wines […] the even more significant growth in exports without Port wine shows that the strategy of differentiating Portuguese wines continues to bear fruit,” said the president of ViniPortugal, Frederico Falcão, in a statement.
ViniPortugal is an interprofessional wine association and its mission is to promote Portugal’s image as a wine producer par excellence, enhancing the “Wines of Portugal” brand.
