Despite the bad reviews of being slow, greasy, and the potstickers not being sealed, this place is legit. They have grandmas making the dumplings one by one. Growing up in Asia, that’s how food is. The open-ended potsticker is a legit style you can get as a street food. They are slow because they are made to order with grandmas in the back.

What’s the place called?
I’ve found that most ethnic ( Mexican, Indian, Chinese etc..) food is much better when it’s a shady place in strip mall with actual people of that ethnicity chowing down, instead of the nicer, “elegant” cloth napkin type places… so, yeah, I’ll bet that place blows it out of the water.
I will say that Chinatown has such a variety of styles and regional cuisines that if you work through the restaurants methodically, you’ll find the few that really resonate with your tastes. And they might not be the same for everyone else.
I reckon I could eat dozens of those! Name please.
Richland Center food court is ALWAYS a banger. Decent prices, great food, and hardly any crowds, even during lunch rush. It’s been a favorite for a loooong time.
They also have a 东北人家 in 88 marketplace, and the meat pies there are insane value
While I don’t like the obsession with hole in a wall place
– yep theirs is good
– 东北人家also has shop in 88 no?
– QXY is a low bar to pass. I don’t care who tells me otherwise. Bunch of Northeastern restaurants also does dumpling better.
Dont forget where QXY started!
Wait, they reopened downstairs?
Eh they’re dry not week sealed and the staff are jerks who stole my money
I never liked QXY. Don’t understand the appeal.
Went there once and ordered as much as I could from their menu to be able to try everything. And it was ok but way too expensive for ok.
I’d rather go to Hing Kee.
It’s not but the food court ones a great for an easier time
I go to the food court where they sell takoyaki to get dumplings from in Chinatown. Place is fire.
ok so last time i was at richland center a month or two ago i swear the dong bei ren jia location had something else there. did they open in another stall? when is this pic from??
I didn’t know they were also in Richland food court basement and enjoyed it at 88 marketplace. Also, QXY is meh and factoring wait and price, it’s super meh. Bring the downvotes cuz I feed of it (^__^)
The food is really great there, but it is sooooo slow. They really do take a long time to fill orders.
Okay! Thank you. When I went there (Dong Bei Ren Jia in the food court) I wondered if it was intentional that every single pot sticker came open like that… The broth is SO GOOD and I wished it had stayed in the dumpling.
Knowing that it’s a specific style makes me feel better (tho also slightly annoyed because I still want the broth *in* the dumpling!).
Agree with you that the food from downstairs is better value by far than QXY. And no line out the door, either.
Hot take: they get all the dumplings from a distributor so they aren’t made in house (homemade) like the ones upstairs.
And the basement food court smells like sewage 365/24/7
I was disappointed. I found the shengjianbao/生煎包 to be heated up from frozen, soggy, and took forever.
there’s a reason most customers at QXY aren’t asians or chinese
Is that the one in the basement food court that smells like shit
