If you’re anywhere near Spicewood Springs and 183, check out Himalaya Kosheli. It’s a quiet family run Nepali and Indian restaurant tucked into a humble strip mall next to Gandhi Bazar and Fat Dragon.
It might not look like much from the outside, just a black painted storefront, but inside it’s warm, peaceful, and full of flavor. The same kind young couple is always there to greet you. We've been regulars for years, usually once a week or every other week, always in the same booth. It’s one of those places that genuinely feels like home.
What we always order:
Appetizers:
• Chicken momos
• Samosa chaat
Entrees:
• Spicy Himalayan chicken chow mein with sliced bird’s eye chilies wok fried into the noodles
• Paneer makhani
Everything is deeply flavorful and made with fresh spices. We’ve tried most of the menu by now, and while it’s all good, these are the dishes we come back to every time. The chow mein is hands down the best Himalayan style noodles I’ve had in Austin, and the momos are consistently perfect.
The atmosphere is super relaxed. Nepali music plays softly in the background, and there are framed photos of the Himalayas on the walls. It’s never too loud or crowded, and always feels welcoming.
They were featured on the Eater 38 list but still seem to fly under the radar. If you like places like Sangam Chettinad but want something more quiet and low key, this is a great spot to check out.
Located in the same shopping center as Asia Café, Chen’s Noodle House, Fat Dragon, Michi Ramen, Cuprimo, and Gandhi Bazar
Peaceful music and friendly atmosphere
Closed Mondays
Just sharing this to help spread the word. They clearly put a lot of love into what they do and they deserve to have more people discover them.
