SHELTON, CT — CAVA, a Mediterranean restaurant chain specializing in bowls and pitas, opened a new location at the Fountain Square center in Shelton earlier this month.
A CAVA spokesperson confirmed to Patch the new location officially opened Sept. 12 at 779 Bridgeport Avenue.
The Shelton restaurant is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and will employ 25 to 40 local people, according to the spokesperson.
“The company hires people for their hospitality and warmth and is dedicated to creating career pathways for its team members,” the spokesperson said in an email to Patch. “CAVA offers competitive pay and benefits including paid time off, healthcare, early wage access, free CAVA meals, an employee assistance program and free mental health support.”
The Shelton opening marks the chain’s fourth location in Connecticut.
In addition to Shelton, CAVA operates restaurants in Greenwich, Westport and Newington. A new location is also planned to open soon at The Shops At Marcus Dairy in Danbury, according to the CAVA website.
“Our mission is to bring heart, health, and humanity to food,” the spokesperson said, “and everything we do at CAVA is grounded in that spirit of generosity to our guests, our team members and our community. We couldn’t be more excited to be in Shelton and to continue to grow our presence in the area.”
The restaurant’s menu consists of a variety of bowls, including garlicky chicken shawarma, falafel crunch and spicy lamb and avocado, as well as pitas such as Greek chicken and steak and feta.
The spokesperson emphasized CAVA has a fully customizable menu that offers “over 17 billion combinations for guests to enjoy through chef-curated bowls and pitas,” as well as fan-favorite pita chips and dips and house-made juices.
“CAVA’s mission is to bring heart, health, and humanity to food,” the spokesperson said. “The brand’s founders drew inspiration from their Mediterranean roots to deliver the bold flavors and warm hospitality of the Mediterranean to every community they serve.”
