Though partly because I don't have cherry tomatoes, utilizing normal tomatoes instead. Took a lot longer to cook, around 30 mins to 1 hour. Also required some adjustments, like the addition of ketchup (got the idea from tomato and egg recipe in Kenji's The Wok) to add more tomato taste, and some sugar to reduce the sourness.

But the resulting complexity in flavor is on a different level, packed spaghetti sauce in supermarkets are nothing compared to it. After tasting it, spaghetti will never feel the same way again…

  1. lol I know you explained it in your description but you came so close to the classic “this recipe sucks I didn’t have chicken so I subbed potato also added ketchup instead of celery, weird texture would not recommend”.

This recipe is indeed super fast and easy with cherry (or some kind of small) tomatoes on hand, and amazingly tasty considering what little goes into it. Looking forward to your next try!

It gets faster the more times you do it!

I make this regularly. 10 min is a push, but 15 min is very doable. Never made it without cherry tomatoes, but with them, it’s very fast, easy and delicious.
