Tried them off a recommendation made on Reddit. $22 and easily easily one of the worst takes on the dish that I’ve ever had. Tiny container, mostly filled with bell pepper and onion. Sauce was entirely too sweet and it was drowning . Not enough chilis or peanuts, and zero wokhei. I know that Han Dynasty is a chain and it absolutely feels like one

I love that spot / dish

Best Kung pao Chinese I’ve had

That said, your dish looks pretty weak

Also, Cumin lamb is their best dish

I’ve liked what I’ve gotten at the University City location in Philly but I’ve heard from so many people who’ve been to both that the UWS quality is worse

Try the kung pao at Chili or Café China

Go to China, this shit is not Kung Pao.

It’s called handy nasty for a reason

The UWS Han Dynasty definitely caters to the local crowd—much sweeter, less spicy. The local American Chinese spots are similar—mushy noodles, little spice/flavor, super sweet.

The one is EV is still yummy, as is the Brooklyn location.

They used to be so much better. The quality has gone down so dramatically. I’m done with them. Used to love me some handy nasty

Used to love them in the East Village, I would even wait an hour or so for a table. Got all excited when they opened up a place in Brooklyn. At first, it was the same Han Dynasty that I knew and love. But eventually, they became wildly inconsistent. Old nasty rice, mapo tofu was inedible, fish in black bean sauce that tasted wonky. Every once in a while, they would deliver the usual standard of the Han Dynasty that I used to know. But the misses became too frequent and we had to stop ordering from them….not exactly a great experience when you have to complain about inedible food….that’s when they became Handy Nasty to me.

Wow that looks gross. Try the kung pao at Legend 72.

I haven’t been to Handy Nasty in at least a decade. This doesn’t look at all like I remember.

That looks fucking vile my god. $22 and places charging $30 for LuRouFan. NYC is such a damn scam

How do we feel about the double cooked pork belly 🫣

They’re a Szechuan joint. Why would you order Kung Pao at a Szechuan joint?
