STIFFLER’S SWEET SPOTThe fried Oreos are a must if you’ve never tried them. And as a pickle loved I was really into the NEW Pickle Bomb which is fried and bursting with cheesy dill. Yum! Located on Nimitz, outside of Embarcadero Bldg/The Dock. @StifflersConcessions

FERNIE’S FUNNEL CAKESLoved the NEW Meat Lovers Crunchy Calzone – it was so cheesy and of coarse I had to get a classic funnel cake with powdered sugar. Located in 2 spots: The Dock on Nimitz, inside the Embarcadero Building + at Fernie’s Funnel Cake Factory (In front of The Old Mill Inn). @FerniesFunnelCakes

HANS MUELLERBrisket lovers, you have to try the NEW Brisket & Brew Stuffed Pretzel – it’s so good! I love the quality and rich flavor of their pretzels. We also got a plain one with salt. Located on Nimitz next to the Chevy Main Stage. @Farm_Pac

FLETCHER’S ORIGINAL CORNY DOGSThe Corny Dog is loved for a reason! They have a variety but I went with the classic with ketchup. @FletchersCornyDogs

Today I’m sharing some of the craziest and most delicious foods that I tried at the Texas State Fair this year. Some are new items, but there are some classic places that you have to go back to and some food options that have additional locations with new treats and savory items available. So, let’s dig right into this because there is so much to get to today and I want you to have a plan when you head to the Texas State Fair. So, basically, I was given an all access pass to eat my heart out, and I started in the midway section. By the thrill ride section, kind of close to the kitty section, you’ll find Palmer’s Hot Chicken. They have racked up some foodie awards, and this year they debuted Russell’s key lime pie bombs. And to stay cool at the fair, I also picked up the Froz, which is a frozen rosé. These were so tasty. The key lime pie bombs start with homemade key lime pie. It’s mixed in the center with some extra like crunchy graham cracker crust and some crushed vanilla wafers. Then it’s rolled into bite-sized pieces and they are so lightly fried. It’s although cheesecake could be a heavy dessert, these are super light and crispy and were a really strong way to start the day. My foodie family was really impressed. Next, I was in the mood for something savory. So, we headed to Stiffler’s Rodeo Lounge, which is new this year. It’s on Bull Alley where the Coliseum meets the Cotton Bowl. There are so many yummy brisket options to try. So, I went with the brisket elotees and these are a must. That rich barbecue flavor mixed with the sweetness of the corn and that cheese on top. We were all obsessed. They also have brisket Frito pie and fried samores. There’s also a really nice shaded area behind this venue and you can sit on the lawn. You can enjoy the game while you’re eating your food. It’s perfect. Next stop on my foodie adventure at the Texas State Fair was actually the Sheen popup. You can do a little shopping and pick up a frozen lemonade popsicle. Right around the corner from the Sheen pop-up is one of, I think, the most underrated parts of the state fair. It’s the Fringe Stage. In the pamphlet with a map they hand out, you’ll see a page that lists all the different show times. And you’ll see that throughout the day there are really cool acts. It’s really familyfriendly and it’s a good way to rest your legs while you’re taking a little break from the fair. I stopped to say hi to the guys working at the Trager booth and headed to Stifler’s sweet spot. This location on Neits has the new pickle bomb, which I was so excited to try, and the sweet classic fried Oreos. Now, if you haven’t tried fried Oreos, it’s definitely a must for me. I’ve loved these for literally decades, and they do a really good job. The super interesting part is that the Oreo inside ends up light and fluffy. It’s not crunchy. 10 out of 10. And then I had to move on to the savory. And I’m a pickle lover, but sometimes like fried pickles aren’t done just right. Now, they serve a little crunchy pickle in the pickle bombs basket, but it’s really the inside that gets all the love here. It’s not just like one pickle inside that you’re biting into. It’s like this creamy mixture with lots of dill in there. The juicy pickle. M. It was really tasty. A little bit messy. The outside fried part had a lot of texture to it. I love these. Oh my god. Right around the corner at the dock on Nemits inside the Embaradero building, you’ll find Fernie’s funnel cake factory. Of course, you can get your favorite sweet funnel cake here, but they also have a new meatlovers crunchy calzone. It is so cheesy, cheesy, cheesy. And it’s served with these yummy freshly fried mozzarella sticks that were everything. But I am a huge Italian food lover. As you know, I cook a lot of recipes on sit by go and having a yummy calzone was totally unexpected for the state fair. This was so cheesy and yummy definitely hits the spot. And it had like the perfect crunch on the outside. This is so yummy if you love Italian food. Then we went in a completely different flavor profile and headed to Hans Mueller. You cannot miss this spot. It’s located on Nemits next to the Chevy Main Stage and they have some of the best pretzels I’ve ever had. Very good or whatever. And new this year for my fellow brisket lovers, you have to try the brisket and brew stuffed pretzel. It has some beer cheese in it. Yummy, yummy brisket. And then it the layer on top of the really soft pretzel with all of that salt is so good. Next, it was time to head to the big Tex area. This is over near where you’ll see some of the car show and the trucks that are outside. And a classic here is always Fletcher’s original state fair corny dogs. All of the people that I ran into on this day were so amazing. I really appreciate how friendly the vendors were, but these Fletcher people literally clapped when I got my corn dog. Okay, I saw them clap at other people, too, but I did honestly feel so special and excited to bite into it. I got the classic, but next time I want to try the jalapeno. It’s so perfect. Circling back to the midway area, like on the southeast corner of the Cotton Bowl Plaza, is Jack’s French fry. It’s near all the games, and it’s one of the easiest snacks to walk around with at the fair. We got Jack’s famous fries with chili and cheese, and these fries are so crispy and perfect. It was a great way to end the day. If you want to know even more foods to try at the Texas State Fair, make sure to check out some of my other videos on Sip, Bite, Go. Have fun.
