This is a very cheap but filling and tasty meal. We have three adults in the house and everybody is satisfied for less than $3. The recipe is simple.

  1. Pour a can of Chicken and Dumplings Soup into a round glass baking dish.
  2. Mix the biscuit mix per the directions on the baking mix
  3. Drop spoonfuls into the soup.
  4. Bake at 450 for about 12 minutes.
  • GV Chicken & Dumplings Soup – $1.52
  • 2 & 1/4 Cups baking mix – $0.99
  • 2/3 cup milk or water – almost free (Edit: Did the math for milk, At $3.22/gal this is $0.14 worth of milk)

I used water once when we were out of milk and the difference was imperceptible so that's what we use every time now. This is one of my wife's favorite meals. Freshly baked biscuits are the star!

This is such a good dupe for the chicken and dumplings box mix we used to eat when I was a kid. Gotta try this sometime!

I do something similar but add chicken, peas and carrots. It’s very filling. My family loves it.

Yum I’ll do the same and if I’m out of biscuit mix I’ll use cornbread mix for the top.
