TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The French Gastronomy Festival, known as Le Goût de France (The Taste of France), is set to take place from October 1 to 13, 2025, with the city of Bandung serving as a key center for this culinary event.

“Many culinary foundations have roots in France. Through the Gastronomy Festival, we want to show how this heritage remains relevant, while also opening up a space for the exchange of knowledge with culinary practitioners in Indonesia, especially in the city of Bandung,” said Christophe Dreyer, Director of the French Institute of Indonesia (IFI) Bandung, in a written statement accessed from the official website of the Bandung City Government on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

IFI, the festival organizer, is offering more than just culinary discussions. The event will dissect various aspects related to taste, ranging from the art of presentation to the relationship between food, culture, philosophy, social issues, and the anthropology of a society.

Vocational Training and Knowledge Transfer

The theme for the 2025 Gastronomy Festival is “Vocational Training and Knowledge Transfer.” Dreyer stated that visitors and participants will be able to absorb a wealth of knowledge, starting with understanding the origins of food linked to cultural elements.

As part of the event, there will be a French recipe competition. Participants must present their best recipes to be judged by a panel of experts. The winners will receive a special prize: a direct trip to France to deepen their knowledge of gastronomy.

The festival involves various local Bandung partners, including Pago Restaurant, Betterpie La Maison, DUH Baking Studio, Tortens, Warung Ubi Ibu, Wheels Coffee Roasters, Bieun Patisserie, Bodas Bistro, Swiss Kitchen, and Citruz Restaurant.

Ricky Arnold, Cultural and Communication Responsibility Officer of IFI Bandung, noted that the festival provides a great opportunity for young people to deepen their knowledge of gastronomy.

Two students from the National Institute of Tourism at NHI Bandung, Kelly and Daffa, have already been chosen to participate in the Apprentis Réseau International de la Francophonie (ARIF) program, which is part of an international culinary training network.
