I finally got a KJ Classic 3. I struggled with putting the fire box wall together. This is as good as I managed to get it. Are the gaps (especially near the top) normal/acceptable?
What are some no no’s to be mindful of while putting it together (ex. Being able to see the body through the cracks)? Any tips on how to put it together quicker or more efficiently for next time?
Thanks in advance!

This is normal. It’s a pain every time. Looks good to me. Send it!
It doesn’t fit perfect. Yours look fine.
Some recommend wadding up balls of paper towels or tissue to prop up the pedals. I found it easier to put the ring on top and pull each piece into position under the ring using the vent hole.
Man, I forgot how nice it can look. Ahhh the good old days.
Also, you want the gaps. That gets super hot… which means expansion. This is the best looking box this sub has seen.
Gaps equal expansion room and air flow. Once you crank that biatch up, you dial in temps for your Joe. Great job, as mentioned before, paper towel balls Keep the leaves of the primary stone. Well done you! B
Its always a pain in the ass to put it together in a sort of perfect way…its impossible for it to be straight up perfectly aligned under that damn ring. One of the sides is bound to come loose, it is inevitable lol
I have such a hard time getting the ring to sit tightly holding all sides, that 1 or 2 always push out. I try and set it perfectly dead center but omg its so ridiculously impossible lol
