Just stopped in after taking photos at the Mexican Independence Day Parade. This is one of my favorite dishes in the city.

that reminds me of a time and place. A place called Pepeys Galley in Venice that makes great wet breakfast burritos that look like this. The time, when we changed the plane reservation to make it sooner than before so as not to allow time for a friends traditional huge breakfast and then BM to loosen the pressure. A large plate like the one pictured downed with 4-6 cups of diner coffee, and said friend was ready to burst. Little did he know, we weren’t back to the crib for a quick pressure release and then to the airport. No, it was straight to the airport with little enough time to clear TSA and run onto the plane. He said he did the entire flight through clenched teeth and cheeks, pretending to be asleep as he farted and sharted through the hour and 1/2 flight, not wanting to look his seat mates on the full flight in their eyes.

this is the kind of food that makes me miss living in LA

Damn. Looks good. I can’t get over the prices now a days. I grew up working in my mom’s restaurant. She sold it in 2009. I remember chilaquiles con asada was like 6 dollars. Domestic and Mexican beers were 2.00 and 2.50. I think the most expensive plate was a costa Azul shrimp plate. About 12 bucks.
