The bambino came yesterday, I bought it from my own money. I am so happy. Made my first coffee on it this morning. Btw, Is this set good value? Anybody got some recommendations?

Well done 👍

Congrats bro…. Going to use my BP for the first time tmrw.. Don’t forget to pull the plastic insert out of the stock portafilter.
Get yourself a wdt tool, funnel and some scales. I also suggest a puck screen to keep the group head clean 🙂

That setup will let you make some tasty coffee.
Maybe get a better tamper when you get a chance. That plastic tamper that comes with the Bambino is not the greatest.
One tip for improving your shots is to do pull an empty shot to warm up the group head and the portafilter before pulling the real shot.

Hand grinding for espresso will get tiring eventually (or at least it did for me) but its a great set up regardless

My first setup at 37, that thing will get you very far and set you up nicely as your skills progress!

that’s amazing. you even did your first latte art! congrats and enjoy the hobby.
Edit: You also did good by buying fresh coffee. I like HAYB from Poland if you ever get a chance to taste some of their coffee.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. We all float down here. Sage words of wisdom can be fond on YouTube from James Hoffman and Lance Hendrick if you haven’s discovered them already, since you weren’t aware of pulling a blank shot to preheat your portafilter I will point you in their direction. Again, welcome to the rabbit hole where the obsession is consuming and the fringe benefits are delicious.

*Is this set good value*
It is not good value. It is excellent (close to the absolute best) value for money.
Don’t waste any money on accessories. You only need a dosing ring (and a basic 0.1g scale, of course, if you don’t have one in kitchen already). And, perhaps, a $10 tamper (the most basic one, but with a more accurate diameter of 53.3mm, the stock one is slightly too small).

I’m more than twice your age and have a similar setup – great choice!
Now save up for a beastly grinder and you’re golden!
