In 2025, the enchanting town of Nemi in the Castelli Romani takes centre stage as the official Città Italiana del Vino. With its volcanic hills, ancient vineyards, and panoramic views over Lake Nemi, this small town near Rome will lead a year-long celebration of Italian wine culture.

This honour isn’t just about Nemi—it’s a regional celebration involving neighbouring wine towns like Frascati, Marino, Velletri, and Grottaferrata. Together, these Castelli Romani communities will host events that spotlight the diversity of Lazio’s terroir, grape varieties, and traditions.

The title also recognises a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture, biodiversity, and the principles of the Slow Wine movement. Expect vineyard tastings, food-and-wine pairings with Lazio’s top chefs, cultural festivals, and open-air concerts among the vines. Of course, Nemi’s beloved wild strawberries and fragolino wine will add a sweet local twist.

As the Città del Vino 2025, Nemi invites wine lovers, foodies, and curious travellers to raise a glass and experience a vintage year full of flavour, tradition, and community spirit in the heart of the Roman countryside.
