If you try to eat this stuff straight out of the can, it just tastes like “good tuna” possibly because the tuna flavor by itself overpowers all the spice in the oil.
I made it into tuna salad with Kewpie mayo and sweet relish, and holy crap, this is several levels above the best tuna salad I’ve ever had! It’s not even the same thing. All the other flavors come out in the mayo that I couldn’t taste before, and the mayo gets nicely pinkish/orange from the oil
I savored every single bite!

i have never been a fan of tuna in oil but i have wanted to try this tin…i think you may have convinced me
Nice. I just picked up a 3-pack at my local Costco, gonna give that a try, thanks!
I have this tin but haven’t tried it yet, but I see it being recommended over rice with a drizzle of Kewpie mayo and maybe pickled cucumbers on the side, thanks for this post, will think about it when I finally try it 🙂

Meaningless when you’ve provided no info on what else you’ve had. For all we know, you’re comparing to Chicken of the Sea & Bumblebee.
I was very against spending so much per tin but figured I’d splurge and buy a bunch of products from Fishwife. I’m really angry it’s worth the price 😂
I love almost all Fish Wife products. I also admit that they are very expensive. Especially my favorite the chili crisp smoked salmon.
I looove it in a spicy tuna cucumber bowl. Just sliced cucumber, mayo, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame seeds, salt, and a pinch of sugar. Mix it all together and yum!
I just tried this exact tin for the first time yesterday and it’s delicious!!!
