The view from Cappello is breathtaking—but it’s only the beginning of the experience. Perched on the 44th floor of Place Ville Marie, this new Italian haven from Stéphane Pilon transforms the space that once housed Les Enfants Terribles. The address beautifully complements Sora 45 and Hiatus, offering a warm yet exhilarating Italian escape. The former décor is quickly forgotten as you step into a welcoming atmosphere where every detail has been carefully—and tastefully—considered.

A Refined and Inviting Setting

From the moment you enter Cappello, the décor—designed by Annika Krausz (Romies, Bar WILLS, Lawrence) in collaboration with Stéphane and his team—impresses with its understated elegance. The tiles and color palette evoke Tuscany, greenery softens the light wells, and each table enjoys its own pool of light, creating an ambiance that’s both intimate and grand. The open kitchen reflects the vision of chef Gary Durand, who worked closely with the designer to craft a space that feels uniquely his own. It’s like stepping into a James Bond film—without the pretense. Sophistication meets warmth here, and every detail, from the ceramics to the tables, has been thoughtfully chosen.

On the Plate

Cappello serves generous Italian cuisine that’s more accessible than its upstairs neighbor, Hiatus, yet equally refined. Chef Durand’s recommendations are not to be missed: the cappelletti with pesto and the branzino crudo are must-tries, while the short rib polpette are pure indulgence. And if you’re craving comfort, the chicken parmigiana never disappoints—delizioso!

A Stellar Team

The experience is rounded out by a passionate and talented team: Executive Director Alexandre Plourde ensures impeccable service, Bar Manager Carl Charette-Kelada crafts signature cocktails that pair beautifully with the dishes, and Head Sommelier Claude Laporte curates a wine list that brings it all together.

With Cappello, Stéphane Pilon and his team have created a space where cuisine, design, and atmosphere come together in perfect harmony. You come for the view—but you return to be transported by a refined Italian experience designed to delight every sense.
