A few years ago friends came into town and for some reason they wanted hotdogs and pizza. Many visitors say these are the top things to try in Chicago. For me, there are many other choices that I would put above those. However, if you go for a hotdog, or in my case a Polish sausage, make sure you get a good one. Jim’s original has been around for decades. It’s amazing how many people come and go from this place in a short period of time. All sorts of people…rich people, poor people, different skin tones, different beliefs, different ages. Sitting here eating my food is super cool to see this cross-section of people from Chicago and elsewhere. Beautiful weather tonight and a clear sky and an all beef Polish with grilled onions. It comes with free fries. What a night!
Tip: get the all beef Polish rather than the regular one for extra deliciousness.

They have my favorite fries. Well seasoned and great exterior texture. So good.
Porch chop sandwich is fire and way less common to find any more around town (also comes w fries).
Legendary spot, i believe they used to be open 24/7 before covid.
But even now its 6am to 1am, close to highway, clutch location
Nothing was better than being in college going to the bars and heading back to Jim’s at 2am with a school id for a free pop
Maxwell street depot is my go to for this on 31st !
“Everything” = Onions and mustard
Jim’s pork chop sandwich got me happy many a night at UIC.

What’s up with these peppers they use at Jim’s? Last time I was there I got one that was hotter than a habanero. They’re good, but not amateur-hour sport peppers.
Jim’s is great 👍
But have you ever been to the original Jim’s Original?
I tried once: Not for me.
Getting expensive every a few months.
Hot take: the regular Polish is just as good and a few bucks cheaper
is there any reason to go jim’s over the express grill? seems like the same product at the same price minus the line.
Wish they were still open 24/7. Thanks UIC
