i would make my own but you need a food processor. I think sunflower seeds are the lowest ‘nut’ per volume, but do the maths.
it requires the nut base, sweetener, cocoa, water to replace the oil. gotta process it heavily which is why a blender won’t work.
natvia has an alternative that is lower calorie but not as much as you’d hope.

The standard answer in here is PB2 mixed with some cocoa powder and sugar free sweetener, maybe something hazelnut flavored. And it’s not bad. It’s not the same, of course. The other option is portion control.

A serving of nutella (37g) has 19g added sugar. So 37% of the 200 calories is from added sugar. Most of the fat comes from palm oil (yaaaah saturated fat).
Hazelnuts, on the otherhand, are great for you. If you have a blender, hazelnuts and cocoa powder with your favorite SF sweetener isn’t bad. You need fats after all. You could also experiment with using less added sugar- I think molasses would carry a lot of flavour per cal. And overtime, you’ll get used to the lower sugar amount.
Or, old baking trick- do the sexy drizzle after on top. It’s not just for aesthetics, concentrating the sugar (or salt) on top of something really does give you that nice ‘pop’ of the taste without overwhelming the whole thing.
Really, you just have to find out what’s worth it. I’ll eat steamed vegetables all day to save room for “real” bread. (Pita though is my suggestion. Something about eating 1 whole pita is nice without being too many calories.)
Also add spices to your homemade nutella. Clove & cardamom kicks butt in it. Try other nuts too! (Or carob!) Macadamia works sooooo well with cocoa.

Chocolate PB2 version! not 1:1 and definitely a bit different flavour but tasty enough as a lower-calorie option

There are sugar free protein chocolate spreads, but the calories are pretty much the same as Nutella. LoCCo has a low calorie chocolate spread that I haven’t tried yet, but their salted caramel spread is pretty good (although rather expensive)

Mousses are good as spreads. High in protein, so filling with fewer calories. And because they are very fluffy from the eggs and all the air beaten into them, you tend to use less.

Chocolate hummus is delicious and will save you a few calories; at about 80 calories in a 2 tablespoon serving. I have it on toast or pancakes; often topped with sliced apples, bananas or with jam. I stir a dollop into oatmeal. Also, I find a spoonful of it is a satisfying sweet treat.
A sweet hummus (vanilla is also tasty) and a savory hummus is good to keep on hand for drop in visitors.
I have made the, Ambitious Kitchen’s, recipe for chocolate hummus a few times, but I often by it at the supermarket. I have bought Aldi’s and Stop n Shop’s in-house brands and also the Boar’s Head brand is very good.
