Forge cellars cab franc 2021, received on sale for $21. avg price says $27 on Wine searcher, $37 on Vivino

Color: Deep ruby red, glossy slight color fade to the rim. Orange-ish red fire

Nose: field of wild berries and herbs. Very strong and elegant nose. Blueberries, strawberry’s, herbaceous, leather, licorice

Pallet: medium plus plus:) tannins, great leather/oaky/vanilla notes good bold smooth top flavors followed by the fruit which does end up over taking the brown notes with heavy blueberry and black current. Then the slight herby/forest floor notes throughout. Overall long finish, 45+ seconds long. Medium plus body. Great acid great balance. Happy days.

Overall: Super stocked I picked this up at this price. 286 cases so that’s cool. For my silly score I give it 91+ points. Excellent QPR

Happy to read of a good showing from a poor vintage. Though I think this supports what I’ve heard about the whites faring worse.

Hot tip: save your money for the upcoming 2024s. Best vintage in a long while, better than 2020.

Don’t store with expensive bottles – i’ve had two of theirs blow on me in the last 6 months or so.

Heading to Forge on Friday. First time visiting the FL.

  5. Making my second visit to FL next month and Forge is one of my top wineries this round. Was primarily interested in their whites, but will definitely check out their reds.

Love Forge, as good as their other wines are, I’d argue their Cab Franc is their top grape for quality. If you love this style, definitely check out Apollo’s Praise on the other side of the lake as well.
