Bridge Street’s Gem42, owned by brothers Sergio and Pasquale Cinotti, has added yet another accolade to its name at this year’s Food Awards Wales.
The prestigious event took place on October 6 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cardiff, where Gem42 was named Restaurant of the Year for the second year running.

Reacting to the title owner Sergio Cinotti said: “A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us your support truly means the world.
“This recognition boosts our confidence in what we do every day and confirms that Newport is firmly on the map for hosting a great variety of outstanding culinary establishments!”

Food served at Gem42, prides itself on using fresh ingredients with the majority hand grown by the Cinotti family.
Speaking about his cuisine Sergio said: “Our mission is to provide humble, delicious food with a creative touch. Never a pretentious but simply sharing a loved passion for what we do best.
“We change the menu seasonally and grow our own vegetables and source what we can locally, fresh ingredients are part of the Italian culinary approach.
“Every effort is put into exploring the ancient practices, drying, fermenting, salting and smoking. The quality of the raw materials, as well as authenticity and simplicity, is at the heart of the philosophy.”

Alongside its fresh Italian approach, the business also creates fantastic edible art as part of its menu. Interesting items like ‘goat’s cheese eyeballs’ and ‘chocolate toothpaste’ have wowed diners with a unique experience.
