Went back to my hometown today.
We're famous for ćevapi, which I believe the English translate to "minced meat dumplings" or "skinless sausages" 💀. If you come across a Bosnian, or Balkan person, please do not call them that. You will end up getting a rant about Balkan food, who stole what, then next thing you know it'll be religion, war and identity.
We traditionally eat ćevapi with this fresh puffy flatbread thing with kajmak (like a spreadable dairy) and raw onions.
Well we love our onions and I got plenty here so I wanted to share it with my fellow onion addicts.

I had to look three times to recognize, that it is not rice, but onions. Well done!
Today I learned there is something like too much onion (for me) after all.
I’m getting Balkan food for lunch today, my stomach is growling! I normally get lahmacun but maybe today cevapi!
I grew up with a lot of kids from the Balkans in HS, 3 things they could survive off of was that bread, heavy full fat sour cream and white onions just as is most of the time.
Anytime I went to one of their houses it’d be their Croatian/Bosnian/Serb mom putting a pile of onions, cevapi/cevapcici, bread and sour cream in front of us until we were full. Even going camping all these guys would bring was a bag of white onions, again with the bread, frozen cevapi and sour cream.
One of the best meals/snacks though when all put together tbh.
Looks absolutely delicious
Look at that aromatic mountain.
I’m in tears
Looks great… a few more Cevaps would be nice though.
I visited Sarajevo back in 2011, beautiful city and the Cevapi was delicious. Difficult cuisine to find restaurants for in my country, I may have to just learn to make them myself.
