    That is a great recipe! I once made sauerbraten with ginger snaps in the marinade, a Cook’s Illustrated version.

    Sauerbraten can be great. Otoh my mom screwed one up once, and my family called it “Rottenbraten” forever after!

    Oof, rhinelander here. We don’t do the gingersnaps/gingerbread thing in the Sauerbraten, here and it pains me to read this.

    Also, what is this ominous “whole mixed spice”?

    (That whole recipe is just so, so wrong… 😭)
