INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Michael Miller from Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits showcased a selection of Gerard Bertrand’s wines from the south of France, highlighting their unique bottle designs and Mediterranean origins.
The wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé, and Pinot Noir, are crafted in the Languedoc-Roussillon area, known for its varied soils and favorable climate. Gerard Bertrand, a third-generation winemaker, emphasizes terroir in his production, utilizing the Mediterranean breeze to enhance grape maturation.
“These wines are the epitome of sunshine and a warm summer day,” said Michael Miller, describing the refreshing qualities of the wines.
The Sauvignon Blanc presented by Miller is described as a lighter-bodied, citrus-driven wine with notes of tangerine, orange, and lemon peel. It features a glass top enclosure, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
The Chardonnay, another highlight, is made without oak, resulting in a lighter body style with tropical notes like banana, pineapple, and mango. It is fermented in stainless steel, offering a zesty alternative to traditional oaky Chardonnays.
Gerard Bertrand’s flagship Rosé is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah, known for its strawberries and cream profile. It pairs well with grilled vegetables and is celebrated as a versatile summertime wine.
The Pinot Noir, one of Miller’s favorites, offers red fruit flavors with hints of baking spices like cardamom and cinnamon. It pairs well with red meats and blackened salmon, making it a versatile choice for various dishes.
These wines, with their beautiful presentation and Mediterranean influences, offer a taste of the south of France, perfect for both gifting and personal enjoyment.
