Analysts from the statistical agency of the French Agriculture Ministry note that wine production in 2025 has been revised downward, and this has become the second reduction in the forecast for this year (initially, wine production was expected to reach 40m hectolitres). Experts name unfavourable weather conditions and related fires as the main reason for this decline.

In August, many French regions faced severe drought, which negatively affected yields: it caused premature ripening of grapes and at the same time slowed down their growth. As a result, there was a decrease in the size of the berries and their juice content. Also, the extreme heat in the south of the country provoked a large fire that destroyed a significant part of the grape lands.
