The restaurant is currently located at Rua Epitácio Pessoa, 85 – Vila Buarque, and is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on weekends, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. So make sure you put a little space in your diary to visit, because it’s not to be missed!

Carlino Ristorante ‘s legacy began more than 140 years ago, even before the Proclamation of the Republic! Founded in 1881, in Largo do Paissandu, where Galeria do Rock is today, the restaurant was created by Italian Carlo Cecchini, who ran the place until 1949.

Years later, the Italian Marcello Gianni took over the management and kept the tradition of Italian cuisine alive. He was the one who made the first change of address, moving the restaurant to Largo do Arouche, another of the city’s historic landmarks. In 1978, the Marino family took over Carlino and, in 2005, moved it to its current location in Vila Buarque, when the neighborhood was still very quiet and lacked the gastronomic charm it has today.

Even with the passage of time, São Paulo’s oldest restaurant has kept the Italian essence in its soul and in its menu. Many of the dishes are identical to the originals from the 19th century, guaranteeing a trip back in time with every bite.

One of the highlights is the rabbit alla lucchese, a typical recipe from the Tuscan region and one of the oldest in the house. The menu also includes irresistible classics such as polpetone with gnocchi, homemade ravioli, tiramisù and cannoli, all prepared with that touch of affection and tradition that only a century-old restaurant can offer.
