Hey everyone! 🍂 Join me for a fun food crawl in Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens. We’ll wander through two of Brooklyn’s most historic neighborhoods, known for their Italian-American roots, Middle Eastern migration, and beautiful brownstones lining tree-lined streets starting to show early fall colors.
We’ll kick things off with savory Italian bites, dive into Middle Eastern flavors, and wrap it up with some sweet treats. Just one sit-down stop; the rest we’ll enjoy on-site, soaking in the crisp fall air, colorful streets, and each other’s company.
Here’s the plan:
Mazzola Bakery (Italian-American). Start with their famous prosciutto/lard bread and savory Italian loaves.
Panzerotti / Italian Street Food (Italian/Sicilian) – Small fried panzerotto stuffed with mozzarella, tomato, or other savory fillings, a classic Southern Italian street snack.
Damascus Bread & Pastry Shop (Syrian). Enjoy fresh pita, falafel, and meat sandwiches, along with hummus and veggie options, at this family-owned bakery carrying three generations of tradition.
Al Badawi (Palestinian). Our sit-down spot. A perfect chance to relax and savor shared dishes like taboon bread, lamb, chicken, and mezze like hummus and baba ghanouj.
Malai (Globally Inspired Ice Cream). Finish the crawl with internationally inspired ice cream flavors such as Turkish Coffee, Masala Chai, or Ginger Root. A refreshing, modern dessert that adds variety to the historical neighborhood food experience.
Estimated cost per person for the full crawl: $50–80, with Al Badawi accounting for roughly half of the total.
