I worked the shift from hell on Monday. Boss or someone fucked up the schedule and the girl who was supposed to be working with me was still out of town and didn’t have a cover. So I worked the whole shift alone. Mind you, we’re a decent sized shop where the staff works open to close the whole day, generally with 2-3 people on a shift, 4 on sundays if we have the staff. I worked the shift barely keeping afloat, no time to do side work or closing tasks. I stayed probably 3-4 hours after when I should’ve been off and still didn’t have the time. I also had therapy that day that I wouldn’t be able to make in person because of how far behind I was. Once we closed, I called my therapist to see if she could do a telehealth session with me. I clocked out and did a 45 min session before going back to closing. My boss walked in right as I was hanging up. She sent me home in a hurry since I had been there practically 11 hours. On my way out I forgot my cash tips. I come in today hoping that the morning staff yesterday would’ve seen them and set them aside, like we Normally Do with forgotten tips. They say there wasn’t any in the jar. So I text my boss and she said it’s possible her husband took them when he came in to roast and put them somewhere?? Is that even Legal? Since I worked the whole day, ALONE, it should’ve been somewhere like $15+ (maybe more since people had pitty watching me run around like a headless chicken). Any advice is welcome, but Im just mostly pissed. If it was a normal shift with like $6, I’d forget about it.
