Photo One: Seven wide mouth Azure Standard pint jars rest on a black gridded cooling rack, fresh out of the canner. Water is pooled on the lids, rings are still on. In the background, you can see a breadbox, a toaster, and if your eyes are sharp, you may notice some of the jars have siphoned some of the red syrup into a pool onto the counter.

Photo Two: An orange dutch oven is full of about 4 pounds of 1/4″ thick sliced red apple rings swimming in a red syrup. A bain full of cooking tools in the background reads, “Let’s Stay In And Cook.”

Photo Three: A woman’s hand holds a clean, sealed Azure Standard pint jar of apple rings, showing a close up detail of the fruit.

Photo Four: All seven jars, washed and pretty, sit on a white polyurethane cutting board. The rings are off and they have hand-doodled labels on the lids as well.

Photo Five: The recipe from the Ball Complete Book, page 156. (It’s honestly pretty simple!)

  3. I’m glad you liked them! I found that they tasted oddly metallic and was not a fan. Also, mine ended up cut in half- yours are beautiful!

Oranges in Cointreau, on the other hand? Perfection!
