I followed this recipe from Muscle Momma Sourdough and her YouTube video.
https://musclemommasourdough.com/theeasiestbeginnersourdoughbreadrecipe/
This is my first time making sourdough and I’m SO proud of this bread! I was really close to throwing this dough out because it wasn’t like the video and I’m so glad I didn’t.
I did the poke test after the bulk fermentation step and the dough didn’t spring back at all so I was sure I had ruined it. I also think I used too much water when shaping because it was super sticky going into the proofing basket and looked nothing like the video. Then when I scored it, it kind of deflated so I was convinced it wasn’t going to rise at all.
Despite all my mistakes, it turned out so pretty and tasted amazing!
Any advice or feedback on what I could do better next time is definitely welcome. Thanks in advance!

That is a first loaf to be proud of. Don’t cut yourself on that ear!
Always bake! Even if over fermented or even if it’s under, just bake, and learn what happens from it and make it better next time. You can turn any “bad” loaves into bread crumbs if you want to as I’ve done in the past or even if it’s not the prettiest it’s almost always at least fine edible bread.
Great first loaf.
beautiful crumb!!!! i’d leave it in the oven a bit longer but great job you should be happy!
Looks good. I personally prefer my loaves darker, much darker.
I’m glad you did too, that’s great!
I’ll only suggest baking a little longer to get some color, that’ll add more flavors to every bite. It goes from shades of black on the tip of the ear to more golden brown on the sides, it’s really safisfying.
This looks so lovely! So glad you did
