As Previously reported by The Press, York-based chef Alessandro Venturi who is orginially from Rome, has returned to Italy for culinary ventures before and his a new project on Saturday, October 26, will see him team up with The Social Distortion for Conca Thai — a one-night-only, five-course dining experience at Trattoria Lillero in the region of Umbria.

The menu, co-created by Venturi and Mark Hill, head chef and founder of The Social Distortion restaurant in Hull, will fuse bold Thai-inspired flavours with Italian ingredients. Mark, known in York for projects such as Born to Lose, Street Cleaver, and The Social Distortion at The Fossgate Social, has taken his punk-infused cooking from Bangkok and Berlin to Barcelona — and now to Italy.

The collaboration brings together a crew of York creatives, each adding their own flavour from the city’s independent food and media scene.

Among them are Joe McKenna, pizza chef at Rudy’s York; Plate & Post, the photographer and videographer known for work with Black Wheat Club and Spark; and Matthew Glasby, graphic designer whose portfolio includes visuals for Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and The Rolling Stones.

The evening will also include cocktail pairings by People Terni, visual design by illustrator Matt Glasby, who has also created a limited-edition T-shirt for the occasion, and creative documentation by Plate & Post.

Alessandro said: “Conca Thai is more than a dinner — it’s a cross-cultural experiment and a continuation of his mission to unite chefs, creatives, and communities through food, noise, and collaboration.”

The event is one night only, and reservations are required.
